James Holmes graduated with honors from Rice University in 1989. He received a full scholarship to attend Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law and earned his law degree with honors in 1992. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Texas Bar College. He has been named a Texas Super Lawyer 26 times and has earned the designation every year since 2014. He is current and former President of the Rusk County Bar Association, past chairman of the District 2 Grievance Committee, past President of the Henderson Independent School District Board of Trustees and past President of the Henderson Kiwanis Club. Since 2020, he has served as Presiding Judge of the Henderson Municipal Court of Record. Readers of the Henderson Daily News voted him Henderson’s Best Lawyer for 11 consecutive years.
Mr. Holmes joined the venerable Henderson law firm of Wellborn & Houston in 1993. He founded The Law Office of James Holmes, P.C. in 2006 to continue representing accident victims and policyholders. He has recovered millions of dollars for clients injured in car accidents, truck crashes and oilfield accidents.
